Opening of CIAJG’s New Exhibition Cycle

On May 17, we return to the museum for the renewal of another cycle. Starting at 6:00 PM, CIAJG opens its new temporary exhibitions, where the relationship with the past, memory, and history once again comes to a boil through fiction.
On the ground floor, which houses the museum’s permanent collection, the solo exhibition INTERVALO by artist Alexandre Estrela opens. Designed exclusively for CIAJG, as part of a triptych exhibition, this second moment explores animation and cartoon in the intersection of painting and video, weaving through the threads of collective memory.
On the museum’s lower level (-1), a single film image is presented. The painting Inferno, one of the most unique works in the history of Portuguese art from the late 15th to early 16th century, is the focus. The filming of Inferno, commissioned to Mariana Caló and Francisco Queimadela, will stand in solitary friction with the museum’s foundations and the broader artistic program of CIAJG.
This weekend, the encounter with the museum begins on Saturday and extends into Sunday. The exhibition openings include a performance program and a public dinner party, and on Sunday, we return to explore its interior through a series of conversational tours of the collection and new exhibitions.
