The 8th edition of the “Ask the Time” project has undergone a revolution in its structure, gaining greater territorial and social reach. This is an intergenerational community project involving a creative correspondence exchange between children from fourteen participating schools and adults from fourteen institutions across various locations in the municipality.
The children use words, drawings, and collages to write to someone they do not know but whose name and some details of their life story they are aware of. They imagine what this person was like as a child and express their desire to get to know them better on paper. The senior community receives the letters and revisits their past, responding and engaging in this experiential intergenerational communication, valuing empirical knowledge and the wisdom inscribed in the body through practice. “Asking the Time” also aims to stimulate dialogues of knowledge and seek intangible heritage with the guardians of stories, rituals, and customs of this territory.
The exhibition entitled “Pocket Watch” is, therefore, a collective artistic action among children and seniors, all artists, which takes shape in the format of an exhibition, in dialogue with the Casa da Memória, composed of notebooks, photographic records, and an installation featuring hundreds of suspended clay sculptures in space and memory.
