Glimmer
Ages 6 and above
Event
"Glimmer" proposes a meeting between ideas, emotions, and the construction of the future, under an ecological and fusion backdrop, carried by creators who have never ceased to think about this future. A future where everyone fits, without exception of color, identity, and gender. A journey into the unknown and transcendent, but which we imagine much better than the present. "Glimmer" is about a technology so humanized that it merges with our soul, about a computer that fell off a bike and still works. It's about the bodies that will inevitably merge with each other and with nature, in a universal embrace at the speed of light. "Glimmer" has technology, a lot of technology, but it has much more music, dance, and above all, poetry.
When, in 2009, Rui Horta and Micro Audio Waves teamed up to create “Zoetrope,” the result was astonishing - a work praised by critics and the community, with a tour greeted by an enthusiastic audience. "Zoetrope," a multidisciplinary piece in the form of a staged concert with extensive technology, spoke of the dizzying journey of the image, from the earliest moving pictures to the omnipotence of digital representation that permeates our time.
Fifteen years have passed and much has happened in between. Today, we again want to talk about the future, something that still resonates in the collaboration of Micro Audio Waves with Rui Horta, who this time invites Gaya de Medeiros to interact with Cláudia Efe, Flak, Carlos Morgado, and Francisco Rebelo. And we want a luminous work, moving from the intimacy of “Zoetrope” to larger, more open stages, like the expanded message of “Glimmer” itself. Technology has exploded, and many of the tools that were experimental then are now mainstream. Today's questions are about the limits of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data, against a backdrop of man's wars and climate war. In “Glimmer,” we explore in the form of music, text, and movement, articulating with a sophisticated but technologically humanized scenic device. And if our schedules lead us to a fragmented life, let the stage be the place where we sow thought. The privilege of creating is having the time to think and share with others. In “Glimmer,” we want technology that gives us back time and encounter.
