"Time and Space: The Marrabenta Solos" explores a crisis of identity, deconstructing cultural representations of a 'pure' African body, particularly the Mozambican body. Since gaining independence from Portugal in 1975, Mozambique has been a land of social and political divisions that witnessed a rigid communist model gradually giving way to a fragile democracy.

"Time and Space: The Marrabenta Solos" delves into the idea of the African body today: a plural and post-colonial body that has absorbed the ideals of nationalism, modernity, socialism, and freedom of expression. Panaibra Canda's body and dance reflect the fragmentation of the country, the biographies, and aspirations – made visible through minimal and startling gestures. The solo is accompanied by the virtuoso guitarist Jorge Domingos, who explores Marrabenta music born in the 1950s from a blend of Mozambican and European influences."
